Ever have one of those days? How about weeks?

Well, that's me, it was definitely one of those weeks last week. Recovering from a weekend visit with faraway relatives does it to me every time. I don't know why. I clean (mostly) my house before we go so really all I should have to do when we get back is laundry but for some reason, this time, I was completely overwhelmed and stressed. Not really sure why, but it is what it is. I was also kind of having a pity party for myself for lots of little reasons that I guess added up to a lot... birthday party planning, worrying about holiday shopping/gift giving, getting ready for Halloween (I swear that holiday about pushes me over the edge every year! more on that some other time), planning more family visits this time to my house, laundry (lots of that), recent weight gain/plateauing (me, grr), scheduling kids' activities (around parties and visits), dealing with 2nd grade homework, feeling behind all the time, running around like a maniac, and lots more little things that when separate aren't much, but put together, are a lot. To me, anyways.

So I am trying to get over it. Baby steps, one day at a time, checking off my list of things to do... whatever it takes. Laundry was done, it took three days to finish it all. I took two days off and now I have piles again. Where does it all come from?! House was clean for about two minutes. Party is mostly planned, just have to get supplies and all that goes with it. Took a boot camp class and added another mile to my outside runs, hopefully will see results on scale soon. Decided to not schedule any more kid activities for October so maybe Halloween and birthday party and family visit won't make me want to jump into a fast moving river this year. Does anyone else feel like the everyday mommy job is crazy overwhelming? Wowzers, sometimes it just hits me like a ton of bricks and it is sure hard to pull out of that mess when it does.

My big things to do this week:
  • get out Halloween decorations
  • clean out my giant kitchen drawer (I think there are three years of crumbs in there!)
  • send out invitations to Parker's birthday
  • finish Parker's ABC scrapbook
  • sew patches on Zoe's brownie vest
  • organize my freezer (and clean out of course)

Menus for this week:
spaghetti (hee hee, are you laughing since we have this every week?)
shredded pork and sauerkraut**
egg frittata
jambalaya and homemade bread
leftover buffet

I can't wait to catch up on everyone else's blogs... my laptop is on the fritz (just add that to my list of woe items) and I am going to have to search for everyone's addresses. Have a great week everyone.

I get overwhelmed sometimes (and I only have one child!)when I have too much going on. I don't do well with that. I always need a list...it's the first thing I do in the mornings. Sometimes (ok most times) I try to do everything just perfect and then I am stressed and not very happy. And about that 2nd grade homework...what's up w/ that? I mean, Brady had a book to read this evening and a summary to write, spelling words and two math work sheets to prepare for a math test tomorrow. He has the same reading homework every night...I mean is this really necessary? Can't we give the kids a break once they get home?! Ok, enough about that!
Hang in there Jenny...and try not to be so hard on yourself! :)
