watchin' my weight Wednesday

I mentioned Monday that I was plateauing/gaining weight. So after lots of sleuthing over the past couple weeks, I have learned that I am a stress-anxiety eater. Not a worry, sad, bored, lonely eater... and defintely not an angry eater (I prefer to vaccum when I am mad, probably so I can cuss like a sailor and no one can hear me).

I have been tracking my food for about a year and a half (since I joined Weight Watchers) but I recently started writing whether I was "hungry" or "emotional." Wow. Talk about eye opening. I found myself eating regularly healthy meals, I already knew I did that but the unplanned snacks and BLT's (bites, licks, tastes) are where I lose my focus. I also discovered a pattern of eating when I was anticipating stress or actually feeling stress. Who knew!? Seriously. For instance, right before our trip to visit our family, I was scarfing junk left and right- I think it was the worry of sleeping in a hotel with three kids, driving in a car for hours with no DVD, being surrounded by unhealthy food, that got to me.

So now I am taking time to mentally ask myself, "are you truly hungry- tummy growling, headache, not just worried about getting Zoe's homework done while the other two monkeys swing from the chandeliers, etc. This is really simple and it really is helping me learn a lot about my eating habits.

In addition to making myself more aware of these tendencies. I have increased my outdoor running distance and I have also taken a boot camp aerobics class (I am hoping to add it to my regular workout schedule- as hubby's schedule allows). I am thoroughly engrossed in "Thintervention" with Jackie Warner on Bravo (Tuesday nights). I am learning tons from this show. And I thought I'd share my favorite healthy living blog: carrotsncake.com. Tina blogs about her fitness, healthy eating, working out, her meals, and her pug, so of course I love that!

With that, I hope that in the coming weeks, I am able to post about watchin' my weight Wednesday successes.

Have a great day!

I've never heard of Thintervention...but I just wrote it down so I can try and DVR it! I too eat when I am stressed or anxious. I hate that I do that.
I take Step class twice a week and body pump once a week ( I really should do that twice...but I hate going to the gym everyday!)...sometime I will take a spin class. I feel like I workout hard...but I am definately a snacker/over eater. One of these days I will get myself together! Thanks for sharing the link!
